Creating Skit Reels: Building Your Foundation

Love TikTok skits, YouTube Shorts, or Instagram Reels? Ever wanted to create your own characters and see them in action? Creating Skit Reels at APS is the perfect course for teen actors ready to step into the world of short-form content creation.

This term, you’ll develop fun, original characters, experiment with different scenes, and work towards an edited proof of concept, setting the stage for next term’s full skit reel production.

Character Creation & Scene Work

You’ll get to invent unique characters and bring them to life through short, engaging scenes. Working with friends in small groups, you’ll explore different character styles, motivations, and quirks. Through improvisation and scene-building activities, you’ll shape stories that feel fresh, fun, and exciting to perform.

Already have a favorite character from a past project? Bring them back and take them to the next level!

Review Your Edited Proof of Concept

At the end of Term 2, we’ll sit down as a group and review your professionally edited proof of concept at APS. This will give you a sneak peek at what’s ahead in next term’s full skit reel filming process.

In-House APS Screening & Reel Distribution

At the end of Term 3, on Saturday, 20th September, we’ll host an in-house showing at APS Moorabbin, where students can view their peers’ creative work. Each student will receive their edited reel via AirDrop or WeTransfer that night, making it easy to take home their finished work. Once you have your fresh new skit, you’ll be free to share the fun with friends and family!
