PATHWAY TO REPRESENTATION

Here at our head office in Moorabbin, we also run two talent management companies, completely separate from Acting Performance Studio. Although we operate under the same roof, Derrick Talent Management & Small Fry are completely separate from the acting school.

In the beginning, the late Peter Derrick founded the acting school off the back of the success of the talent agencies which have been in operation for over 35 years. Peter identified a need to offer a high level of training to actors of all ages with equal focus on both stage and screen, something he understood with children of his own training in the performing arts. Peter imagined a tiered pathway of acting courses. This pathway would cater to each student’s individual level. Growing and deepening as the actor’s ability grew and deepened.

That pathway now extends from classes for 4yr old’s, through teens and into adulthood. Working actors attend our term classes to stay in shape, audition-ready for their next role. The pathway can lead to our 2yr Full Time program, with entry by audition only. One of our students began drama classes with us when she was 8 years old, and is now a student of the Full-Time acting program. She trains 35 hours a week to hone her craft. Graduating students benefit from the acting agency operating under the same roof. Due to the agency’s presence APS can provide for its student’s insider industry tips and contacts regardless of their individual representation.
